This is Sean Casey’s TIV which means Tornado Intercept Vehicle we crossed paths in Mitchell, SD after a long tornado filled day. Sean has spent many years placing his home made armored vehicle directly in the path of tornados in order to film with his IMAX camera. -@CamilleSeaman http://ift.tt/1pjEYYa
Another day full of tornados, though we only saw two and by the time we could stop they had gone. -@CamilleSeaman http://ift.tt/1lWBXhg

We left from Oklahoma City and made a long dash to the storms we knew would initiate in the north west corner of Nebraska
One massive supercell was moving too quickly and rather than be perpetually behind it we opted to chase further south and west. We were rewarded with a mesocyclone ( rotating supercell) called a mothership that had wonderful colors and structure.
Unfortunately the town of Pilger was in the direct path of twin tornados on the storm we decided not to pursue. There was extreme damage, injuries and one reported dead. I have the greatest empathy and compassion for those that live in tornado alley.

The best antidote to a long day behind a computer: a bike ride and a
night in a hammock under the full moon. I’ll be back at my desk by 9am
tomorrow. #microadventure -@Al_Humphreys http://ift.tt/1kRQwlW
All my kit for a night on a hill: hammock, Thermarest, hat, journal

Sometimes the slow rides are the most fun. (Not sure I needed the
racing bike and clip in pedals though!) -@Al_Humphreys http://ift.tt/1oV6hYw
